Flush Mount Lighting

Flush & Semi-Flush Mount Lighting

How you light your home is so important. In addition to providing simple illumination so that people can see, lighting helps set the mood. Some people prefer low lighting — they feel like it helps make their space feel cozier. Others prefer lights to mimic sunlight so that they can brighten everybody’s moods during the dreary winter months. You also need to consider whether you want your lighting fixtures to stand out as part of the décor or blend into the overall structure of the room.

Semi-Flush & Flush Mount Lighting

Lamps are typically the first thing that comes to mind when people think about how they want to light their homes. While lamps are certainly important, each room should have some sort of overhead lighting too. When it comes to overhead lighting, your best options are flush mount lighting and semi-flush mount lighting.

What Is the Difference Between Semi-Flush and Flush Mount?

Flush mount lights are lights that are mounted very close to the ceiling — part of the fixture might even be set into the ceiling. These are a great choice if you have low ceilings and don’t want to have to worry about clearance issues. They are also ideal if you want the light to reach as much of the room as possible.

Semi-flush mount lighting is lighting that is suspended below the ceiling. For example, the lights that are mounted into ceiling fans are considered semi-flush mount lighting. These are lights that are better suited to targeted lighting. Some of them aren’t fixed, so you can aim them wherever you want the light to be concentrated.

Semi-flush and flush mount lighting can also be mounted into/on the walls of your home. Your porch light, for example, is usually either a flush or semi-flush wall lighting fixture.

Styles of Flush Mount Lights

Even though flush mount lights are typically used to provide basic illumination with broad coverage, they come in many different styles! Just because their utility is simple, doesn’t mean the light has to be.

For example, a basic ceiling light can be dressed up with the Jonathan Y Silas 2-Light Rustic Farmhouse Iron LED Flush Mount fixture. This fixture adds a bit of a rustic touch to your space. On the other hand, if you want something a little fancier, to provide some glamour to the space, the Lalia Home Crystal Glam Ceiling Flush Mount fixture might be more your style.
